Jessie Morgan’s newest body of abstract paintings capture the rhythm of nature – its ebb and flow, light and energy, without restricting one’s vision or interpretation. They are essentially open fields of color inviting reflection and meditation. Using industrial materials, Jessie Morgan intuitively builds layer upon layer of translucent colors mixed with transparent glazes. Painted on aluminum, Morgan is drawn to their smooth surfaces and the dichotomy of creating organic images from industrial materials. “I make rhythmic, repetitive marks that evoke natural systems, simultaneously revealing a macroscopic and microscopic view.” What Mogran has created is an entirely new entity, a vision that compiles not only physical layers of paint but layers of history and time. The resulting images are luminous bands of color and texture rich in meaning yet quietly contemplative.
Morgan received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1991 and a Diploma Degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1998. This is her second solo show at Clark Gallery
