Michael Stasiuk constructs toy-like figurative objects of human and animal forms from a variety of found objects. He collects old toys, tools, kitchen utensils and general nostalgia, which take on a new personality when arranged together. The initial reaction to the work is amusement and awe at the imaginative way in which the sculptures are constructed. Stasiuk earned his BFA from University of Michigan School of Art, and studied ceramics and found object sculpture at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. He has exhibited widely in Galleries and Museums throughout Northeast, including the DeCordova Museum, Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire, and Noyes Museum in Oceanville, New Jersey.
